A fall family photo shoot in the “S” family’s backyard.

Welcome back, all! You read that right, a backyard fall family photo shoot. Fall sessions are already great, but at home? Now that’s as awesome as the pictures. Incorporating your own property in some way makes them even more special. I recently had a fantastic session with the “S” family. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I truly have the best clients ever! This family was no exception, either. They were adorable and their little ones could not have been more perfect. “D” was full of personality and baby sister was like sleeping beauty for a majority of the session.

We met for a sunrise session. I try to get the rising or setting sun behind my clients as much as possible. Amazingly enough, where their fence ended their neighbors had a nice open yard with some trees and great fall colors. We were able to shoot the session in the client’s yard with the beautiful sunrise and neighbor’s trees serving as a perfect fall backdrop. I loved shooting at the “S” residence because with a new baby and an active 2-year-old, it was comfortable and convenient for them. We were expecting rain during the session time so it was also nice to be near their house for that reason. Thankfully the rain held off!

For our shoot, the “S” family wore great fall outfit colors.  I would love to say I sent out a memo with a yearly color theme, but some of my clients must have had a secret meeting without me. Way to stay trendy clan! I was able to work in my props with the outfits they chose, which really made for some amazing photos. The blanket matched perfectly.
